  • 方穎豐說，張家5兄弟因父親酗酒、母親離家，小時由姑姑及祖母扶養，他在泰源國小擔任校長，除了老四沒興趣外，其餘4兄弟均被他拉入棒球隊，讓兄弟們以校為家。而張進德的棒球潛質，更是令人驚訝。

    方穎豐表示，台東基層棒球訓練方式很科學化，很容易調教出符合美國大聯盟需求的球員，所以常有美、日國際球探到台東找選手。
